You can find their website HERE an article about it HERE. The DC Stabilization Center (DCSC) is located at 35 K Street NE, Washington, DC 20001, and is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
DCSC provides services to people 18 and over. It's free, and you don't have to be a DC resident to go. The Stabilization Center can provide medication when needed. It's staffed by medical professionals, and has a multidisciplinary staff that may be able to help with housing and other social services.
What Happens at the Stabilization Center
According to the District's website, a person who goes to DCSC will meet with an intake coordinator. Then, the person's personal belongings will be secured and immediate personal needs will be discussed. These needs may include: food, bathrooms, access to a shower, laundry, and other supports.
Space at DCSC is limited. Only 22 individuals can be serviced at one time. It appears from initial reports that persons may stay there for 72 hours.
Long-term Treatment Options
DCSC may be a pathway to long-term recovery. Their staff can provide referrals and placements into long-term treatment options.
