There's been a lot of junk science used to convict innocent people over the years. DNA evidence, however, is viewed as the gold standard.
But it's still subject to scrutiny.
According to REPORTS, a senior Colorado DNA tech did incomplete work. Authorities apparently believe that this impacted 652 of her cases between 2008 and 2023, including posting incomplete results in some cases.
What does that mean for defendants facing criminal charges involving DNA evidence? MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EXPERIENCED ATTORNEY ON YOUR SIDE. It's all too easy for prosecutors to put up their expert and simply say "it's a match, case closed."
