The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) said a man was arrested this Wednesday after trying to bring a machete into the Capitol Visitor Center.

According to this REPORT, the officers stopped the man just after 2 p.m., having spotted the machete in his bag. They then stopped the X-ray machine, arrested him and secured the weapon. Three knives were also found in his bag, along with the machete.

The incident was able to be stopped thanks to a time of high security in the District due to multiple events happening at the same time, like the former President Jimmy Carter's funeral, the certification of the 2024 election results and the Presidential Inauguration.
