Seven people were taken into custody last week, including a former physical education teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools after detectives with the Major Crimes Bureau's Child Exploitation Unit went undercover and engaged with them, who interacted with young children to solicit sexual acts.
According to this REPORT, officials noted that during the encounters online, perpetrators engaged in explicit conversation and many sent pictures of themselves while also asking for pictures in return. When they agreed to meet with the undercover detectives, authorities were waiting for them and they were arrested.
Major Elizabeth Melendez with the Major Crimes Unit said that 25 felony charges were placed as a result of the operation. This includes taking indecent liberties with children, production of child pornography, using vehicles to promote unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and more.
